Sweetpea

This is a ROOT PONY. This is a species of pony I decided to create, and any use of the species I would like referenced to me. I WILL NOT be charging for this species of pony, but referencing would be much appreciated. There is an actual transformation process that is a bit morbid sounding, but it doesn't involve actual death of any sort.

The Story of the Root Pony:

Regardless of what pony-race you were born into, becoming a root pony is a special and beautiful transformation; however, this transformation comes at a price. Over the coarse of a month you will become very ill. Your mane and tail will shed away, your body will begin rejecting normal food, and as time goes on, *your eyes will start to change color causing temporary blindness, and eventually, your natural tail will rot away completely. Appearing as though you're dead, your body reaches a coma-like state, and your loved ones will celebrate your life as it was and bury you (having assumed you are dead). 

Between burial and "re-birth," your body will be slowly wrapped in a blanket of roots. As these roots constrict you, the transformation comes to a peak and your body begins a rapid growth process called "seeding," during which your mane/tail grow back in the form of soft petals, stamen, vines, stems, leaves, etc. Your technical species (earth pony, unicorn, pegasus, alicorn) may also change (see special parts below). 

On the first night of the next full moon, the roots that protected you for so long make their way to the surface, and bring you with them. Upon your first breath, you are "reborn," as a new pony with no cutie-mark**, but you will remain the same age as when you "died."

Special parts: 
-Manes and Tails are now made of foliage and flowers.
-Hooves are now covered in moss, bark, or roots if they are showing.
-Wings are made of the leaves of the plant you take after. If you're a "rose," you will have "rose leaves."
-Horns are also covered in moss, bark, or roots.
-Fur remains the same color you had before "dying."
-* Eyes can only turn PINK, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, or INDIGO (blueish purple)
-**Cutie-marks are gone. They are wiped away by the transformation.

How You Become a Root Pony:

Some ponies eat a fruit that was created with the pollen of a root pony's mane. Some ponies are saved from death because they have a strong affinity for plants. Some ponies have it in their genetics (one of those "every hundred years" type deals). Normally, it's brought on by the consumption of fruit though.

The first root pony was created after she passed away from a sudden illness in which she lost her mane, went blind, couldn't eat, and lost her tail from other illnesses brought on by the first. She was buried by the sea, and a memorial garden of her own planing was planted over her to "keep her alive," which was more true than words could express. After being "reborn," she made it her personal duty to care for the garden, and upon her second and final death, she grew into a massive tree the produces a rainbow of flowers, hundreds of species mixed into the leaves every year! Her pollen is spread throughout the land by air, animal, and bug, and fruits produced by the pollen are said to have magical healing properties. Some believe they are cursed, poisoned fruits instead though... But it's a simple legend!

**Why No Cutie-Mark?

As a root pony, your new mission is essentially to be a hippie. You are to spread peace, love, and happiness to those around you, including animals, family, and friends. Because it is the same for ALL root ponies, cutie-marks aren't needed.

What if I Want a Cutie-Mark?

If you wait a few weeks, I'm planing a new species that is similar but very different.


I've decided to throw myself under the digital-art bus and make ponies at the same time. I'd like to throw out there that I am not a brony by any means, but ponies are kinda fun to draw.
